NIRVANA's 'History' CD Due In November, Video In The Works

October 1, 2002

NIRVANA's forthcoming compilation CD will be a "history of the band" and will be released on November 12th in the U.S. through Universal Music Group, according to a statement issued yesterday by NIRVANA's surviving members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, The disc features the song "You Know You're Right", the last NIRVANA recording, which just hit radio last week.

A music video for "You Know You're Right" is reportedly being shot and will include previously unseen footage of NIRVANA. In addition, plans are underway for a box set to be issued in 2004, with a rarities album also in the works.

"We hope that this release will enable longtime NIRVANA fans to hear some of their favorite songs in a new context. At the same time, the upcoming CD will allow a whole new audience to appreciate NIRVANA's music and Kurt Cobain's great talent," read the statement from Grohl and Novoselic.

In related news, Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, is reportedly writing songs with Linda Perry, the former 4 NON BLONDES frontwoman who resurfaced recently with collaborations with pop star PINK, including the smash hit "Get The Party Started".

Love will begin recording a new album in the U.K. and France in the coming weeks, according to the Universal Music Group, which settled with the singer/actress last week. A new single is scheduled for release on U.K.'s Poptones Records in January. No information on a U.S. release is currently known.
